Setting soapboxes and the world on fire

Specific Best Practises

Dearest Readers,

I woke up this morning, feeling transformed. Then – it snowed! – how great is that?

It was bitter bold sleety snow – English, despite it’s many variations, is such an impoverished language, only one word for snow. Pity.

Anyway – the memory of the blood work that I had done earlier this week, is behind me now – and I am now able to move on to new and better things.

So, I want to share a story about how much my self-management has improved – because I have finally become comfortable enough with my daily routine that I am no longer upset when I have to leave my house to drive my spouse to – you remember the song, right?

but – since this is about women’s working blues:

and – I had a power thought – about two particular women, and these are their stories – and these women – I read that first book many years ago – and just knowing that the second book existed, was enough for me:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_Craft

Because – I was only bullied (and I am specifically not talking about that, it’s just mentioned in passing, or merely, as an appetizer, not even that much, just an amuse bouche, if you will) – and these women – experienced much worse and they have fared well in the aftermath of their experience – so with all due respect to the workplace subject matter experts – there is really no reason why anyone can’t recover from being bullied.

It’s only when people have trauma upon trauma – combined with having been or being bullied – that they do not recover.

Knowing that people survive – far worse events – goes a long way – towards letting go.

And music – it soothes the savage beast and the aching heart – you just have to smile and be willing to laugh at yourself and from time to time, reinvent yourself- just like Dolly did:

hey, it worked – I played songs that make me feel happy and powerful – and the story about my conversation with the woman who parked so close to my car at the grocery store this morning – and how I made her laugh when I showed her that I could not squeeze between her rear bumper and my rear bumper – I guess she liked the chilli pepper red of my car so much that her car just wanted to almost kiss bumpers….

well, dearest readers, I am going off line for the rest of the day

And if you need another laugh, check out – my worst poems ever!

Random Ntrygg: Lessons Learned

Dearest Readers

I have mentioned – many things over the span of my blog.

Now – I am 44 years old – I am a caucasian woman in Canada and you’ve seen me in 2012 – because I made this video as an anti-bullying campaign video: BIG BONED GAL PRIDE 2012

And, I am not going to talk about bullying again on my blog or anywhere or to anyone again – because – that’s also part of the recovery process.

Letting Go – and – it can be – just that easy. Remember who your role models are:

Well, google is not a precise search engine, but close enough, better to go for the laugh anyway

Because DEAREST READERS – this post is about what lessons that I have learned – from many people – that I interacted with – during the dark days of my recovery process that ended December 31, 2011 – and during the humble days of my recovery – January 1, 2012 – forward through the recovering process days – and including today – March 13, 2012.

And I am so happy today – because – this morning, it snowed – just for a while – but I watched the snow falling – and me and snow – we have a special relationship.

Now, dearest readers – I have some specific things to say – and then – I am turning off my computer for the whole rest of the day – because, well:

Because, well, just be because

YOU CAN RECOVER FROM BEING BULLIED

STATISTICS ARE ONLY A GUIDE

TO UNDERSTANDING POPULATION DYNAMICS

not individuals, and we are all unique, not an average

IT GETS BETTER FOR ALL OF US

And, in the spirit of this new day – March 13, 2012:

DEAREST READERS:

I want to share the three important lessons that I have learned in recovery.

1. Eat Healthy Wholesome foods – raw, fresh and wholesome foods.

2. If you live in a Canadian climate – only use full spectrum light bulbs in your home.

3. Laughing at Yourself – is the best sign of mental health recovery because it means that you are managing your stress levels.

Pumpkin Pie Toast

I came up with a taste and texture delight that I have to share.

Start by toasting your favorite multigrain bread that has seeds in it.

While the bread is toasting, assemble in a row the jars of:

honey

pumpkin pie spice (premixed or nutmeg, cinnamon, mace, ginger, allspice, clove)

cinnamon

cocoa

mixed white chocolate chips and butterscotch chips

Coat the toasted bread with honey.

The order of the spice layers do matter, so on top of the honey, lightly sprinkle a dusting of:

pumpkin pie spice mix

cocoa

cinnamon

then liberally add the butterscotch and white chocolate chips – re-toasting slightly once assembled if you have a toaster oven and want the chocolate to be melty.

If you want to do a fancier brunch, put the spices and honey in an egg/milk mixture and make pumpkin french toast!

With the weather being so gorgeous, it was really impossible to not fire up the BBQ. But, certainly weather doesn’t stop me, I’ve BBQed when there’s snow on the ground. We had planned to BBQ Turkey parts, but the store … Continue reading
