What I would like to know is what year did the Democratic Party change their minds about black people? I would much rather vote for someone whose religion would have once denied my father the right to hold a priesthood position over someone from a political party that would have once denied my father (and any other black person) basic human rights and freedoms. I have little understanding of the reasoning behind being a black Mormon or a black Democrat. If we’re going to talk about past beliefs, read the original Democratic Party Platform– just don’t do it before bedtime. You might just have nightmares.

in the 1960’s when the Democratic Party was the human rights party.
that hasn’t changed.
it’s the republicans who are trying to return America to the 1950s, McCarthy style and sans Elvis.
